Homer Christian Church
At Homer Christian Church, we keep things simple: we love God, we love people, and we do our best to follow Jesus. Below are the core beliefs that shape who we are and how we live.
What We believe
the Bible
God's Word For Us: The Bible is God’s message to us—full of truth, wisdom, and guidance for life. It teaches us who God is, how much He loves us, and how we can follow Him.
📖 "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." – 2 Timothy 3:16-17
God
Our Loving Creator: We believe in one God who made everything and loves us deeply. He exists as Father, Son (Jesus), and Holy Spirit—three in one. He invites us into a relationship with Him.
📖 "The Lord our God, the Lord is one." – Deuteronomy 6:4
📖 "Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."– Matthew 28:19
Jesus
Our Savior and Friend: Jesus is the Son of God. He came to earth to show us God’s love, died on the cross for our sins, and rose from the dead so we can have new life. Through Him, we find hope, purpose, and eternal life.
📖 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." – John 3:16
📖 "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." – John 14:6
Salvation
God's Gift To Us: We don’t earn God’s love—it’s a free gift! Salvation means being rescued from sin and brought into a new life with Jesus. All we have to do is trust in Him.
📖 "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast." – Ephesians 2:8-9
The Church
A Family of Believers: The Church isn’t just a building—it’s people! We gather to worship, encourage each other, and serve our community. No matter where you are in your faith journey, there’s a place for you here.
📖 "Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it." – 1 Corinthians 12:27
📖 "They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer." – Acts 2:42
The Lord's Supper
"Do This, In Memory of Me": Each week, we take communion (the Lord’s Supper) to remember Jesus’ love and sacrifice. Everyone who follows Jesus is welcome to join us.
📖 "For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes." – 1 Corinthians 11:26
Living Our Faith
Love God, Love Your Neighbor: Faith isn’t just about what we believe—it’s about how we live. Jesus calls us to love God, love others, and shine His light wherever we go.
📖 "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself." – Matthew 22:37-39
📖 "Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." – Matthew 5:16
